방배동 총신과 장로교회 소속을 30세까지 유지하다가 미국에 도착하자마자  아내의 신학교 여정따라 순복음 엘파소 교회 여의도 순복음 교회 파송 선교사의 자격을 얻고 교회 전도사 시무를 하게 되었다.

 

나는 순복음 총회와 아무 관련이 없어 2달 만에  LA로 상경했고 하숙집 주인 부부 청소따라 다니다가 오렌지 카운티 부에나 팍 은혜한인교회(한인교회중 제일 큰 교회)출신 여전도사님이 개척한 순복음교회를 따라 나셨다가 매일 전도 테이프 복사일과 주보만드는 일을 하면 순복음신학교 보내준다고해서 동의하고 올해 은퇴한 백 무산 목사님과 함께(당시는 미군 막 제대한  기타 찬양 청년 집사) 신학교를 입학하게 되었다.

이 아나하임에 있는 순복음 신학교에서 유대인 자녀 교육 쉐마 연구회를 이끄시는 현용수 박사님을 교수로 만났었다. 설교학 외에도 다른 신약성경과목도 가르쳤었다.

 

이후 15년 이상 지난 후에 우리 부부가 오렌지 카운티에서 다시 살 무렵 그 분에게서 한국으로 쉐마교육 사역 떠나기전에 우리 부부와 친구 전도사 

부부 따로 로뎀교회의 한 장소에서 만나 쉐마교육을 소개 받았다.

정통 유대인의 모든 핵심 전통 문화를 공부하는 계기가 되었다. 

왜 5계명 부모를 공경하라가 있는지와 중요성에 대해서…

그것이 오늘 내게는 조상의 빛난 얼과 DNA 가족 공동체와 유전자의 중요성을 인식하게 되었다.

그리고 아담과 하와, 사도 바울의 친족과 민족에 대한 사랑, 이방인의 사도와 제 2의 아담 예수 그리스도의 기독론 등등 의 사상체계를 갖게 되었다.

 

학교를 1년 밖에 못다니고 하와이로 아내와 아들 이렇게 가족이 합쳐야했어서 1학기 수강 요약론을 교지에 남겨놓았던 것이다. 이후 하와이에서 2000년까지 순복음 교단에서 같이 사역하게 되었었고 

1998년 5월 4일에는 하와이 6일 창조교회를 개척하게되었다.

2000년도 아래 메모를 보면 ‘6일 신학’’6일 창조교회’ ‘초교파 평신도 연합 6일 동맹’

6일 동안 창조적 생산적 삶을 위한 학원 사업, ‘비지니스 경영 커설팅’ 이런 식의 형대를 추구했었다.

 이것이 지금 초교파 6일 네트웤 공동체, 라이프 코칭,비지니스 코칭등과 연결되는 맥락이다.

 2000년 뉴 밀레니엄 같은 하와이 순복음 교단 윤 자애 전도사님의 안내로(지금은 온라인교회 목사) 구세군으로의 부름을 받았다. 

그 분의 남편은 미국인인데 LA 순복음 기도원 고헬렌 목사님의 기도원에서 사역하다가 구세군으로 먼져 부름을 받았다고 이미 사관대학 졸업하고 임관되어 사역지에서 일하고 있는 상태였다.

이때가 40세  이후 50세까지 구세군에서 부부가 이런 저런 인생 서사를 만들며 살았다.

이때 나의 진로 상담 사관은 한국 사령관으로 은퇴한 장만희 사관이었었다.

I remained connected to Bangbae‑dong Chongshin Seminary and the Presbyterian Church until the age of thirty. When I arrived in the United States, I immediately followed my wife’s seminary journey. Through that path, I received the status of a missionary sent by Yoido Full Gospel Church and began serving as an evangelist at the Full Gospel Church in El Paso.

Since I had no personal connection to the Full Gospel denomination, I moved up to Los Angeles after only two months. While following the boarding house owners to their cleaning jobs, I met a female evangelist from Buena Park Grace Korean Church, one of the largest Korean churches in Orange County. She had planted a Full Gospel church, and I followed her ministry for a while. She told me that if I helped every day with evangelism tape duplication and church bulletin production, she would send me to the Full Gospel seminary. I agreed, and together with Pastor Baek Musan—who has now retired, but at that time was a young layman recently discharged from the U.S. military and serving as a guitar worship leader—I entered the seminary.

At the Full Gospel Seminary in Anaheim, I met Dr. Hyun Yong‑soo, who led the Shema Research Group on Jewish child education. He taught homiletics as well as several New Testament courses.

More than fifteen years later, when my wife and I were again living in Orange County, we met him once more. Before leaving for Korea to begin his Shema Education ministry, he met with our couple and another pastoral couple at a small room in Rodem Church. There, he introduced us to Shema Education.

That meeting became an opportunity for me to study the core traditional culture of Orthodox Judaism. I came to understand why the Fifth Commandment—“Honor your father and mother”—is so important. It helped me recognize the value of ancestral heritage, family DNA, and the communal nature of family identity. It also shaped my understanding of Adam and Eve, the apostle Paul’s love for his kin and nation, his calling as the apostle to the Gentiles, and the Christology of Jesus Christ as the Second Adam.

I was able to attend the school for only one year because our family needed to reunite in Hawaii. I left a summary of my first‑semester coursework in the school journal. After that, in Hawaii, I continued serving within the Full Gospel denomination until the year 2000.

On May 4, 1998, I planted the Six‑Day Creation Church.

A memo from the year 2000 shows ideas such as “Six‑Day Theology,” “Six‑Day Creation Church,” “Interdenominational Laypeople’s Six‑Day Alliance,” and educational or business programs for a creative and productive six‑day lifestyle, including “business management consulting.” These early concepts later became the foundation for today’s interdenominational Six‑Day Network Community, life coaching, and business coaching.

In the year 2000, at the beginning of the new millennium, I received a calling to the Salvation Army through Evangelist Yoon Ja‑ae of the Hawaii Full Gospel Church (now an online church pastor). Her husband, an American, had previously served at Pastor Go Helen’s Full Gospel Prayer Center in Los Angeles and had already been commissioned as a Salvation Army officer after graduating from the Officer Training College.

I was forty years old at that time.
From forty to fifty, my wife and I lived through many life stories while serving in the Salvation Army.
My career counselor during those years was Officer Jang Man‑hee, who later retired as the Territorial Commander of Korea.
